The Island
The Beaches
From Kavalos you drive over the panoramic hills to Tsoukalades. From there you will soon see the beautiful turquoise of Pefkoulia Beach. And a little further south – Agios Nikitas: a bustling but nice little tourist town. From there you can go by boat or on foot to Milos Beach, a wonderful natural beach. The most spectacular of the many endless beaches on the west coast is Porto Katziki – an absolute must see during an island tour. On the east side of Lefkas, with a view of the mainland, you think you are at the shore of a lake – gravel beaches with calm, clear water. From almost everywhere you can see small offshore islands like Skorpios, the Onassis Island.
The Island
Lefkada is connected to the mainland by a pontoon bridge. Turquoise blue beaches, wooded, rocky mountain hills, quaint villages and lively towns offer everything a holidaymaker’s heart desires: swimming, sailing, kite surfing, hiking, motorcycle tours, a bit of archeology … with a delicious, traditional dinner by the sea or in a mountain village for cooling down after a hot day on the beach or simply preparing a delicious meal from fresh local ingredients in our beautiful kitchen and enjoying it on the terrace with a glas of cool Vertzamo wine. Cicadas and owls singing along with it …
Kavalos is situated in the north of Lefkada halfway up the mountains. The house is on the edge of the village. The access road ends there. You have the place all to yourself. From the terrace you have a fantastic view of the green hills, the city of Lefkas, the Ionian Sea and in the distance the imposing Pindus Mountains. If you want, we will be happy to give you tips for excursions.
Getting there
By plane: Preveza / Aktio airport is 25 km away on the mainland and is served by many European cities. Or you can fly to Corfu, Athens or Thessaloniki and drive to Lefkas in a rental car. Thessaloniki is an attractive, inexpensive destination airport thanks to the new Egnatia motorway, which connects east to west. The island of Lefkas can be reached from the mainland via a bridge.
Arrival by ship: During the high season there are daily ferries to Igoumenitsa from Trieste, Venice, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi.
